You’re not alone. Moving our mindsets from thinking something is impossible to possible is a huge shift. I recently came across a true story that perfectly illustrates how much our mindset defines what’s possible.
The Story That Redefines “Impossible”
I recently came across a true story that still gives me chills every time I tell it.
George Danzig was a graduate student in mathematics during a time when jobs were scarce. His professor announced that whoever earned the best score on the final exam would win a highly coveted position as his research assistant—a dream opportunity that every student wanted.
George studied late into the night before the exam and accidentally overslept. By the time he arrived, the test had already begun. Embarrassed but determined, he sat down, completed the eight questions on the paper, and then noticed two more problems written on the blackboard. Assuming they were part of the test, he copied them down.
But those two problems were much harder. He couldn’t solve them in time. When the professor allowed students to take the exam home, George continued working day and night. By Thursday morning, he had solved one. By Friday, he solved the other and turned in his exam before the deadline.
That Sunday morning, his professor knocked on his door, wide-eyed and speechless.
“George, you’ve made mathematical history!”
The professor explained that those two problems weren’t part of the exam—they were unsolved equations that even Einstein couldn’t solve.
Because George didn’t know they were considered “impossible,” he simply believed he could.
What This Means for You
As working women, we often face our own versions of “unsolvable problems.”
We juggle careers, families, and the quiet ache for something more—a deeper sense of purpose, balance, or joy.
Yet, like George, what limits us most isn’t our ability. It’s the belief that something can’t be done.
When you shift your perspective from impossible to possible, you open the door to unseen solutions, new opportunities, and the strength that’s already within you.
The Power Is Already in You
This story beautifully connects to one of my previous reflections: “The Power is in You”.
That same power—the one that guided George to solve the unsolvable—is within you, too.
You have the wisdom, courage, and intuition to rise above challenges, create change, and build a life that feels deeply aligned with who you are.
Here’s how to begin:
Stay open to possibility. Don’t let fear or past experiences define your future.
Trust your inner guidance. The answers you seek are already within you.
Take the next step. Big change starts with one small, brave decision.
Final Thought
Whatever you’re facing today—whether it’s a dream that feels out of reach, a change you’ve been avoiding, or a challenge that feels too big—remember this:
“The same access to the impossible that George found is already within you.”
You are connected to infinite potential. You have the power to move beyond what you’ve known, to create what you truly desire, and to live the life you’ve been imagining.
Because nothing is impossible when you stop believing that it is.
